INTRODUCTION
About Curren Ligon
I am a recent graduate from Auburn University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Organizations and Community Governance. I am passionate about public service and would love to connect!
Public Service Philosophy & Career Goals
My approach to public service is rooted in human-centered design, where empathy and connection are the highest priorities. I believe that effective service is collaborative, considerate, and elevates the voices of those who are most directly impacted by program and policy implementation. Therefore, I view community engagement not as a building block, but the foundation for bridging gaps between people, professional sectors, and the government. I view public service as an obligation rather than an opportunity because I believe that the greatest innovations are born out of humans striving to help one another.
Through the experiences I have gained from my graduate studies, I know that I am passionate about working with organizations tackling injustice. I hope to utilize my knowledge to create innovative programs that can combat humanity’s greatest threats to integrity, safety, and freedom. More specifically, my goals include working with nonprofit humanitarian organizations to develop and implement programs that prioritized trauma-informed care, human-centered design, and community sustainability. Through my work, I hope to champion programs that fulfill their mission and align with these values.
