Global Perspective

For many years, I have been drawn towards the work of international nonprofit organizations. I am fascinated by how culture, politics, and socioeconomic factors must all be carefully considered when implementing programs outside of an organization’s country of origin. Additionally, I enjoy learning about how these factors contribute to a community’s perspective and attitudes towards the nonprofit sector.

This artifact is a Theory of Change I created, based on a USAID workbook, developed for an organization seeking to combat issues of commercial sex trafficking in Greece. This project takes a holistic view of the problem, investigating how the government, public opinion, and other external elements can be leveraged, or conversely, pose the greatest obstacle to long-term, sustainable change. While it was challenging to balance all of these elements, I learned a significant amount about what it looks like to develop nonprofit programming from simply identifying the issue being faced, specifically in an international context.
